Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama son of the late Ghana’s Vice president, Alhaji Aliu Mahama has donated food items to Muslims for the celebration of Eid-ul-adha.
Alhaji Farouk ahead of Monday’s celebration donated 600 bags of rice and assorted drinks to Muslim at separate ceremonies in Yendi and Tamale.
Mr Farouk made the donation through his social intervention vehicle program known as Partnership for Poverty Reduction(PPR) to the Muslim community to support them celebrate the upcoming Islamic festivity, Eid-ul-adha.
The donation is in his bid to support needy Muslims undertake the big celebration, considered as an indispensable spiritual event on the Islamic calendar.
Alhaji Farouk urged all Muslims to endeavour to share the little they have so as to enable the underprivileged enjoy the Eid.
He had supported the Muslim brothers during the Eid and would continue to assist in order to maintain the good relationship.
Eid al-Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays which honour the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.
Farouk also urged Muslim celebrants particularly those in Yendi to continue to use the blessings of Eid to pray for continued peace and tranquility in the town especially at a time the long-running Dagbon feud has ended.
Muslims in Yendi appreciated the kind gesture of Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama for his unceasing support to the people.
