Suspect murder in Yendi; Family of 40-years -old demand justice for decease

The family of 40-years -oldHudu Abdul Rashid in Yendi is demanding justice for the murder of their son. Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Agyekum met his untimely death during a confrontation with a taskforce against illicit drug trade in the Yendi Municipality.

The deceased who is said to have been hit on the throat was rushed to the Yendi government hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The unfortunate incident happened at about 5:30pm last Tuesday where taskforce was said to have visited the deceased wife’s shop on suspicion she sells illicit drugs.

According to a brother of the deceased, Mr Adam Sedik Zapayim their son was the only one they met in the shop before the deceased came with the wife and insisted that they do not sell illicit drugs.

 The wife, he explained only sells cola nuts and snuffs but not illicit drugs but a confrontation ensued leading to the tragic incident.

The family, Mr Adam said has since reported the matter to the Yendi divisional police command for appropriate actions to be taken against the suspects.

Tension is said to be high in Yendi, especially among the youth for the police to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted. The family he adds want the police to speed up their investigation to avert eruption of possible violence attacks.

Zaa News reporter in Yendi Issahaku Abdulai reports that the Yendi divisional police have commenced investigation into the matter and are yet to make any arrest.
