The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale Central Constituency Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala has provided mathematical sets to 1200 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The MP also donated a total mount ofGHC24000 to the candidates for their transportation to the various examinations centres in the Tamale Metropolis.

Mr Murtala had earlier organized a five month free extra classes for the final year Junior High School Students to help them prepare adequately for the BECE slated for Monday, November, 15 2021.

Speaking at a short ceremony to present the items to the students, the Tamale Central MP reiterated his commitment to invest more in education to enable the constituency produce quality feature leaders in the area.

“I have a moral duty and responsibility to fulfil the promise I made to the people of Tamale central to invest more in education such that we can produce people who are several folds better than me”.

He said there is every need to support vulnerable students, especially final year students, with learning materials and tools that will aid them excel in their exams.

 “The students need to be supported and motivated to boost their confident to come out with flying colors,” he added.

Mr. Murtala further disclosed, his office is liaising with other stakeholders in the constituency to form reading clubs among the students after the exams to enable them take their studies seriously and promised to provide reading books for that purpose.

He urged the students to go into the exams with all the seriousness it deserve in order to reduce the poor BECE performance in the metropolis.

The Tamale Metro Director of Education, Amatus D Tug-uu, commended the Tamale Central Legislator for his timeous intervention saying,  it will go a long way to enhance the performance of the students.

Some of the beneficiary candidates who spoke to Zaa News thank the MP for coming to their aid.

 “We thank the MP for organizing the extra classes and also supporting us with mathematical sets for our exams, because of the extra classes we were able to cover all the topics, and so we thank him for this gesture”.
