Hundreds of supporters of the National Democratic Congress, bigwigs and sympathizers on Saturday besieged the Tamale Jubilee park for the campaign launch of roads and highways minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini.
The much anticipated campaign launch commenced on Thursday with Quranic recitation, donation of motorcycles, electrical standing fans and solar lamps, mattresses among others to the Tamale central hospital.
A health and a jamboree walk along some principal streets of Tamale set stage for Saturday’s campaign launch aimed at retaining the incumbent NDC Tamale central legislature and President Mahama in December.
Alhaji Inusah who is the incumbent member of parliament for Tamale central brought the fastest growing city in West Africa to a stand still with a lot of Jabari’s amidst dancing to music provided by Ghana’s self acclaimed dance-hall artiste, Shatta Wale’s popular song called ‘ Mahama Paper’ and the popular Dagbani song ‘ Wumpini which literally means God gifts.
Among the dignitaries who graced the launch were the majority leader of Ghana’s parliament, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbani- MP for Nadoli-Kalio constituency, minister of employment and labor relations, and MP Tamale South, Mr Harruna Iddrisu, the deputy trade and industry minister and MP for Nanton, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed Mutala, and the deputy power minister John Jinapor- parliamentary candidate for Yapei-Kusawgu.
The party hierarchy was led by the NDC general secretary, Jonhson Aseidu Nkatia accompanied by the national youth organizer Sidi Abubakari.
The launch which was expected to start at 2 p.m. local time officially started around 4:30 p.m. due to the tardiness of the dignitaries and ended at about 8 p.m.
