The Young Democrats, a youth group of the ruling National Democratic Congress governing has pledged a 96 percent win for President John Mahama in this year’s elections. The Young Democrats made the pledge ahead of President Mahama’s visit to the northern region as part of his accounting to the people tour.
In welcoming the president to the northern Region, the youth the assured the rank and file of the NDC of their commitment to ensuring that the operation 57 percent target of the NDC in the November, 07 election is realized.
Before the arrival of the president in Tamale, the youth told newsmen they will work assiduously to canvass votes for the party in the northern region.
Musah Abdul Rahim, secretary of Young Democrats, who addressed the media urged the rank and file of the party in the region to come out in their numbers to give President Mahama a rousing and befitting welcome home on Wednesday.
According to the Young Democrats, the region is considered as one of the NDC’s ‘world banks’, hence there need to widen the gap between the votes cast for the NDC in the 2016 election as against that of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

NEWS CONFERENCE BY YOUNG DEMOCRATS, A PRO-NDC GROUP TO PLEGE OVER 90 PERCENT VOTES FOR PRESIDENT MAHAMA AHEAD OF HIS ACCOUNTING TO THE PEOPLE TOUR OF THE NORTHERN REGION
Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the media. We are very grateful to you for responding in your numbers to our call at a very short notice
As you may be aware, the President of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama is expected to visit the Northern Region tomorrow as part of his accounting to the people tour. We the aforementioned group was very much elated to hear that the workaholic president is finally taking his tour to this region. The Northern Region undoubtedly is the home of President Mahama and Young Democrats warmly welcomes you Mr. President. We urge the rank and file of the party in the region to come out in their numbers to give President Mahama a rousing befitting welcome home on Wednesday.
We as a group has never relented in our effort to ensure the operation 57 percent target of the NDC in the November, 07 election is realized and has therefore worked assiduously to canvass massive votes for the party in the northern region. Considering the grounds covered so far, we promised that the northern Region, considered, considered, one of the NDC’s ‘world banks’ will widen the gap between the votes cast for the party in the 2016 election as against that of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
Young Democrats is certain and pledges to deliver 96 percent of the northern region’s votes to President Mahama and the NDC in the November, 07 polls. This target is very realistic and not beyond reach, in view of the massive infrastructure development seen by people in the region under President Mahama. The expansion and upgrading of the Tamale International airport, the Eastern Corridor roads, Tamale teaching Hospital, a number of the Day Senior High Schools among a host of other essential infrastructural developments. We have no doubt that the electorate would reward this with their votes.
Young Democrats has targeted 96 percent votes in the Northern Region, the group is confident that with the adoption of the right campaign strategy this is going to be exceeded. We will continue to reach out to every potential electorate to engage, educate and tell them the success story of the government.
Young Democrats are determined to work hard and make the necessary sacrifices to retain President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in power and the party’s performance in the region would be critical to the achievement of that goal.
We however caution the leadership of the party in the region guard against complacency. Everybody should be actively part of the campaign get down to serious business as well as forge united front.
