Prospective applicants for Ghana Police Service vent anger and frustration at new electronic system of recruitment

The Tamale main branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank has been the scene of long queues by prospective applicants who want to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.

Checks by Zaa News revealed that the bank’s branches at hospital road and Aboabu were no different. Speaking to Zaa News, some of the applicants said the previous procedure, where an applicant only needed to buy the form at the post office was far better than the newly introduced electronic system.

They complained about its tedious procedures and said some of them had to sleep at the premises of the bank overnight only to be told the next day that the link is lost and therefore the applicants must wait till the link was restored for the process to continue. An applicant said they suspect the slow pace of the system was a deliberate attempt to prevent them from having access to the form.

Applicants who traveled from as far as Saboba, Chereponi, Zabzugu, Bimbila, Kpandai, and Wulensi, were particularly bitter with the whole process which they described as  punishment and a disadvantage to them.

The Ghana Police Service this week announced the sale of its recruitment forms which is now done through an electronic process after getting a bank voucher from GCB branches nationwide. The sale is expected to end this month.
