The two Members of Parliament in the Sagnarigu District, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini and Alhassan Dahamani has presented five hundred dual desks to fifteen selected schools in the Sagnarigu District.
According to Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini who stood on behalf of Alhassan Dahamani to present the furniture, the presentation of those dual desks is a sign of good tidings to come to the district.
The deputy Northern Regional Minister expressed his displeasure when he visited some schools and met many of the students sitting on the bare floor to study and called on all key stakeholders to contribute their quota to enhance teaching and learning.
Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini emphasized that sitting on the bare floor to study was not the best for the future leaders of Ghana. He said apart from overcrowding in many of the schools in the North, lack of furniture and infrastructure deficit is another key challenges facing the schools.
Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini assured the district to expect more of educational materials to come from him, the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Dahamani and the Ministry of Education.
He tasked parents and stakeholders to pay much attention to their wards in the acquisition of knowledge.
He said education is one of the most important thing in life which needs not to be joked with. He quoted chapters from both the Quran and the Bible to buttress his call for acquisition of knowledge by all.
He however cautioned all heads of the beneficiary schools not to charge any student for the use of the furniture. He thanked the Minister for education and her two deputies for their consideration. The deputy Northern Regional Minister lauded all the teachers in the Sagnarigu district for their sacrifices and appealed to them to continue the good works they are doing for mother Ghana.
The District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Alhassan Mohammed Sorugudoo on behalf of the Chiefs and people of Sagnarigu district expressed his profound gratitude to the MPs and the ministry of education for the kind gesture.
Mr. Alhassan Sorugudoo further appealed to the acting District Director of Education for Sagnarigu to do more to uplift the performance of schools in Sagnarigu. He stated clearly how unhappy he was at the position schools in the district were placed whenever the ranking of schools were out.
The Tamale Metropolitan Educational Director who doubles as the Acting Educational Director for Sagnarigu, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Mohammed Saani assured the Sagnarigu DCE all concerns raised will be rectified. He added the facility had come at an appropriate time, as it would help to unravel some of the infrastructural needs of schools in the district.
