The University for Development Studies (UDS) has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with College for Community and Organization Development (CCOD), a Technical University Organization Development in Africa with its Ghana campus in Sunyani in the Brong and Ahafo Region.
Under the MOU, UDS will issue professional certificates in Organizational Development (POD), Advance Organizational Development Certified Consultant Masters of science in Organizational Development (MSOD) and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Development (BOD) to students of CCOD.
President of CCOD, Gabriel Gbenarkuu who signed for the school observed that senior executives routinely managing change in most companies in Ghana have become obsolete.
Change management prevailing in Ghana, he explained, has become irrelevant and organizations are trying to become more agile and adapting to this continuous change.
The college has 17 years of research and working in communities in Ghana and other parts of Africa like Kenya, Zambia and Nigeria.
Explaining CCOD affiliation to UDS, Mr Gabriel said affiliating with UDS was based on strategic reasons including community-driven-development approach, use of Action Research, Coaching and mentoring of students and use of Action learning and technology.
The Organization Development (OD) program which is the main focus of CCOD, targets secondary school levers, pre/post-HND holders, Diploma holders from any recognized tertiary institution and also workers of both public and private sector with at least three years work experience. Gabriel Gbenarkuu spoke to Zaa News about their affiliation with UDS.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UDS Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, who signed the MOU for the university, said students of the college are expected to conduct themselves like UDS students and management of CCOD need to ensure that.
Professor Gabriel Ayum reiterated UDS’ commitment in partnering with credible institutions for the academic pursuit to help address problems confronting society. The UDS Pro-VC after visiting the college campus certified it accordingly.
