The Northern Region Agent for the World Food Program (WFP), Sulemana Nasiru is urging business people in the northern region to venture into the construction of warehousing. He said warehousing is in high demand for the storage of farm produce.

Storage, he explained, is one of the backbones of agric sector and farmers are facing serious problem when it comes to storing their farm produce.  Mr Nasiru who is also the managing director of intercontinental group of companies said warehousing is a big business now and the earlier businessmen venture into it, the better.

Mr Nasiru believes, with adequate and proper warehouses in the northern region, the region will have enough food to eat, store, sell and even export to the outside world.

Speaking to Zaa News, Mr Nasiru said all actors in agric sector including government have to be blamed for inadequate warehousing in Ghana.

Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions can only boast of about five proper warehouses which are woefully inadequate.

On stakeholder’s commitment towards warehousing, Mr Nasiru said they have done enough and the onus now lies on the people to invest in the sector. The WFP, he said, is currently in dire need of warehouses.
