A-31 years old mobile money vendor, Abukari Yussif has been shot by arm robbers Sunday night.
he was attacked by the gun wilding men at Vitting, a suburb of Tamale near African touch restaurant.
The incident occurred at about 7:21 pm. The victim according to police was shot on his right arm.
He was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
The victim told the police that two armed men arrived at his work place on a motorbike and robbed him of cash about 2000 Ghana cedis and a quantity of scratch cards.
Police preliminary investigation on the crime scene found five spent shells fired from an AK 47 rifle.
Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP MOHAMMED YUSSIF TANKO told the media that investigations is on going and appealed to the public assist with relevant information with the potential of aiding in the arrest of suspects.
Meanwhile police is appealing to all person who handle money at their work places to be wary of the dangers pose by criminals and be on the look out for same.
DSP cautioned mobile money vendors to be security alert and not act in a manner that is likely to make them fall easy prey for criminals.
Suspicious characters, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko added should be reported to police for necessary action.
