President heaps praise on Late Kara Naa; says he was a peaceful man

 

 

The President, Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo has urged the people of the Karaga traditional area to emulate the peaceful manner of the late chief of Karaga.

Mr. Addo who described the late chief as his best friend, said he was   a champion of peace and it is proper peace was maintained in his honor.

Recounting his memories with the late chief, the president said the late Kara Naa always wanted to see Dagbon united and peaceful.

He therefore entreated the chief and people in the area to live exemplary lives to promote development. The president dispensed the  advice while addressing chiefs of the area at Yamo-Karaga.

Speaking at Samak Agribusiness Limited 250,000 acre farm in Yamo-Karaga, the president pledged his government unflinching support in agriculture.

The president acknowledged that Ghana’s economic  strength cannot be left to small holder farmers and encouraged the private sector to venture into farming.

Mr. Addo’s visit to the farm was part of his three-day tour of the north to inspect projects and infrastructural development.

The Chief of Tong, Naa  Yakubu Andani, On behalf of chiefs in the area thanked the president for making agricultural a priority.

The chief assured the president that the kindsmen in the area will exemplified the late Kari Naa by ensuring absolute peace in the area.

He praised the government for good policy initiatives such as one village one dam, planting for food and jobs and the free SHS.

The entire Kariga district, Tong Lana assured are behind the government, adding that the people have seen visible signs of development ongoing.

The chiefs however, worried about the bad road network in the area. The mention Kariga  -gushegu Road needs,Kariga -Yamo Kariga Road and other major roads linking Kariga to the regional capital-Tamale as some of the roads which needed serious attention by the government.

Roads Minister  assurance

Roads and highways Minister, Mr Kwasi  Amoako-Atta  assure the chiefs 2018 budget has 300, 0000 for the roads. The government he said has reviewed all roads networks contracts.

In 2016 the former regime attempted to tried to put up a bridge to link the  overseas but failed. The government under Nana Addo Me Amoako-Atta said is constructing that bridge because it promises and deliver.
Contract has been awarded to McDan limited for Nanton and Savelugu 12 km Road. The  government headed is keeping close eyes on all roads in the country.
