Nankpanduri scarp to be developed into tourist attraction

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has started exploring the possible means of making good use of the Nankpanduri scarp as a tourist attraction in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo district of the northern region.

According to the Ghana tourism authority, the Nankpanduri scarp is a potential area for adventure tourism which when harnessed could generate a lot of revenue for the assembly while boosting Ghana’s tourism sector.

Other activities the Authority thinks could tourism on the scarp include paragliding, mountain climbing, hiking and camping.

The Northern Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Alex Nketia disclosed this to Zaa News as part of the authority’s efforts at harnessing tourism potentials in the north.

Mr Nketia said his outfit has already held discussions with the communities and the chief of the area has blessed the idea.

The Nankpanduri area is one of the mountainous areas in the northern region, but it attracts very few tourists. The GTA, he added is now waiting for feasibility studies to be conducted on the site to see if it can be developed.
