About 43,265 candidates are taking part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the northern region, out of whom, 24,452 are boys and 19, 463 are girls.
The Tamale Senior Secondary School (TAMASCO) centre alone has two centres; center A and center B. Center A has 310 candidates from seven schools, whilst center B has five schools, made up of 250 candidates.
The Northern School of Business (Nobisco) has three centres with 634 candidates from eight schools taking part in the exam.

Addressing the candidates at the Tamasco centre, the Northern Regional Minister, Abdallah Abubakari reminded them of the importance of the BECE Examination and urged them to comport themselves in the exam halls.
The Northern Regional Minister Abdallah Abubakar accompanied by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sagnarigu, the Regional Director of Education and some Heads of departments in the Sagnarigu district visited some examination centres in the Sagnarigu District.
The visit was to interact with candidates to assure them of their prayers and to encourage them to eschew all examination malpractices.
It was also for the minister and his entourage to wish them well in their examinations and to enhance a smooth and transparent writing of the Examination.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sagnarigu, Alhassan Mohammed Sorigudoo on his part, encouraged the candidates to put in more efforts to perform well in the exams.
