imageThe Chief of Dalun, Naa Mahama Hamidu has urged institutions in his traditional area to take proper care of the tools that they use to carry out their daily activities.

Dalun Lana said the misuse and neglect of either government or private properties have the tendency of discouraging donors from supporting needy institutions with equipment to work and that ultimately will affect the vulnerable in the society.

The Dalun Lana, who was addressing some representatives of government agencies and NGOs at Dalun, reminded the institutional heads that donors will only continue to lend a helping hand if they see serious commitment from the institutions they support.

The chief, who supervised the presentation of health and educational materials to some 14 institutions, said even though some of them have already been used in Europe, they are still durable than brand new ones in Ghana and entreated the beneficiaries to be grateful for the support, saying traveling to Europe not for personal gain but for the interest of the people should be appreciated.

Last year, REEP donated about 20 computers to Kumbungu Senior High School to facilitate teaching and learning of ICT. However, REEP Ghana and its donor through a monitoring and evaluation exercise found that the computers were locked inside and not being used.

The chief said such attitudes could deprive needy people and institutions of much needed support. The Dalun Lana commended REEP Ghana’s Director for his efforts towards supporting the people in his traditional area.

Some of the beneficiary institutions assured the chief and the NGO that the items would be put to good use. The Kumbungu District Education Directorate’s representative, Alhassan Ibrahim said the directorate was grateful for the support.
