First batch of Modern Star School writes WASSCE exam

The first batch of Modern Star Integrated School (MSIS) in Tamale for both Senior High School (SHS) and Junior High School (JHS) are writing the ongoing Basic Certificate Examination Council and West African Senior Secondary School Certificates Examination (WASSSCE).

In all, the school presented 15 and 17 candidates for the Junior High School and Senior High School respectively for both the  BECE and WASSSCE.

The 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will commence on 4th June, 2018 while the West African Senior Secondary School Certificates Examination (WASSSCE) has since begun in earnest on the 3rd of April, 2017.

The administrator of the school, Mrs. Patience Nkara Kpiniong speaking at an orientation programme for the candidates said the school has prepared the students both psychologically and academically for the exams.

According to her, students are being trained in the three domains of learning, namely the psychomotor, affective and cognitive domains.

She however admitted that there are some isolated challenges the students are encountering in their learning abilities, but she is quite convinced that the candidates will perform well since they have adequately been prepared ahead of time.

She stated “As this exam marks a very crucial stepping stone in the academic pursuits of all candidates, it is the hope and prayer of management that the Almighty will crown all your efforts and toil with success so as to justify all the investments made in you by your respective families and country at large.”

On behalf of Management of MSIS , she wished all candidates the best of luck and retentive memory. She also advised the candidates to abide by the rules and regulations governing the West African examination body in order not to be found themselves wanting.

Outlining modalities the school had put in place to address individual student challenges, Mrs. Kpiniong said academic counselors have since been assigned to each student considering the background of some of the students.

Modern Star Integrated School is a conventional college which has been in operation for a decade in the Tamale Metropolis of Northern Region, providing quality education to especially the marginalized and needy in society from nursery to the senior high education level as well as certificate programmes in vocational and technical fields

The school runs as a charitable organization where at least 50 percent of the students are usually brilliant but needy are on scholarship. It aims at creating an enabling environment by providing quality technical/secondary education to the youth who are marginalized in society especially the girl-child to equip them with meaningful and sustainable skills for the job market and for further studies.

Meanwhile, the school currently runs a one-year certificate programmes /courses in fashion and design and electronics for Junior High School graduates, Senior High School certificates and master craft persons.
