The Lawra Secondary School Old Students Association (LASSOSA ) in the Upper west region has presented 100 pieces of student mattresses to the school. The support comes upon receiving a formal request from the school authorities to support the school after the girls’ dormitory was hit by an unusual storm on 21st March, 2022, displacing over 216 girls.

The Vice Chairman of LASSOSA Thomas Tingan who delivered a speech on behalf of the National President says, the association upon receiving the request was moved to come and relieve the students from this bizarre misfortune. He urged the students to use the items judiciously so that students who are yet to be enrolled can also benefit from them.

The Vice Chairman however implored relevant state authorities to salvage the situation of the students, whose lives are in serious danger by the trauma caused by the disaster. The headmaster of the school Naa Alhaji Seidu Tingbani expressed his sincere gratitude to the association for coming to the aid of their Alma- Mater.

He has therefore appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area, Philanthropists, GETFUND, NGOs and benevolent individuals and organizations to also come to their aid. This is not the first time the old students supported the school.

It has over the years assisted the school with learning materials and other educational needs. He says the ripped-off dormitory block has since not seen any renovation despite several appeals to the government.
