Pupils of Lepusi primary school in the Nanumba North District of the northern region are now schooling under trees. This is because their classroom block has been completely ripped-off by a rainstorm that hit the area in April.
The head teacher of the school, Ali Yakubu told Zaa News he has written to the Ghana Education Service office in the area and yet to receive support after officials of district National Disaster Management Organization visited the school to assess the level damage.
The Six (6) units classroom block which was affected has since been neglected. The school block that accommodates primary 1A&B, primary 2A&B, primary 3 and the office roofs had its roof blown off compelling the school children to sit under trees for lessons.
Contact hours between teachers and pupils have been affected. School authorities say they fear for the children lives and are therefore urging the government through the district assembly to come to the aid of school. School authorities in collaboration with parents are struggling to find temporary places for the children to study.
