An old student of the Tamale Senior High School who is now a Major in the United States army, Hajia Habiba Seidu Fuseini has challenged students in the Northern region to let determination be their core value and guiding principle towards their future.
“When my mum dropped me at TAMASCO I had no sense of direction because I was too young, as young as 11years old, but with determination and perseverance, I achieved my goal,” the major stated.
“With my humble beginning in TAMASCO, I rose to the rank of a major in the U.S army and I love the job I do, so please it is possible for everyone to achieve his or her dream,” she encouraged the students.
She said the three regions in the north unfortunately have not received their fair share of foreign aid which normally is stacked in the south while people in the north continue to wallow in abject poverty.
“Unfortunately it has always been a problem not only in education and health but in the north we lack so much and most of the foreign aid is distributed in the south and those of us who know what life is to live here in the north try to do things right.” she lamented.
She charged her husband who is the chief director of ministry of defense and his colleagues who are in leadership positions to negotiate to get the north out of the difficulties confronting the people.
Hajia Fuseini was speaking at a ceremony to commission 1980 year group street lighting system project in the school.
The younger generation has to have a goal and sense of direction because there is nothing one put their mind that cannot be done, Hajia Habiba stressed.
Major Habiba who was a trained nurse before joining the U.S Army had the opportunity during her advance studies at the university when U.S army was recruiting graduates.
Hajia Habiba told students she recruited into the U.S. Army nurse corp. and was trained to be a soldier.
Hajia Habiba is also the Queen Mother of the Ghana Northern Union of Chicago residents which comprises Northern, Upper East And Upper West Regions. She told Zaa News that she got into the battle field during September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Center was attacked when all soldiers had to defend the U.S.
She further charged old boys who are in leadership in Ghana to use their positions to galvanize financial support and influence government to assist the school.
