Upper West Region: Presentation school holds maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day celebration in Jirapa

The Presentation R/C Primary and Junior High School in Jirapa of the Upper West Region has held its maiden speech and prize giving day. The occasion saw some of the students and teachers receive awards for their outstanding performance in their academics for the past years.

As part of motivating and celebrating these students and teachers, bicycles were given to them to enable them report to school on time. The occasion was organized by Presentation Brothers of St. Raphael’s Parish, in the Jirapa Municipality of the upper west region in collaboration with Misean Cara. Delivering a speech, the headmaster of the school, Brother James Dabuo Dery elaborated that the occasion is to award students who performed well in 2021, award parents who contributed so well to the development of the school as well as award serious and dedicated teachers and officers of the Ghana Education Service in the Jirapa Municipality.

It was also to motivate girl child education in the municipality. Addressing the gathering, the Jirapa municipal Director of Education, Agnes Mwaawaaru thanked Misean Cara for the intervention to support the girl-child education. She urged students, teachers and parents to take good care of the donations given to the girls.

She says this will help curb tiredness, loss of contact hours of students staying far from school. She commended Misean Cara for their continued support to the municipality and urged parents, teachers and everyone to help the school to grow.

In all, 24 students, three teachers, a parent and some officers received bicycles, and citations respectively. A student on behalf of her colleagues expressed her appreciation to Misean Cara for coming to their aid. She says the issue of lateness and laziness to school will be a thing of the past.
