A mental Health Specialist Issach Borlu says there is no complete health without mental health. He has therefore advised the general public to be concern about their mental health. According to him, the issue of mental illness in the country is on the rise with many people suffering from depression which is a mental condition.

He said existing psychiatric hospitals and units do not have enough funding and resources to treat persons living with mental illness, hence people should take their mental health seriously.

Mr Borlu who was speaking in an interview with Zaa news also warned the youth against alcoholism and substance abuse saying the abuse of these substances can be detrimental to their mental well-being. The condition Mr Borlu noted is no respecter of humans, the need for government to take issues of mental health seriously.

He further encouraged people to go for regular checkups to ascertain their mental status. Mr Borlu however mentioned that governments’ idea to establish two psychiatric hospitals in the country is welcoming news to Ghanaians and asked that government commences work to address the numerous mental health challenges in the country.
