2 handed over to police for ‘illegal’ voter registration in Tamale

Two temporary staff of the Electoral Commission have been arrested and handed over to the Northern Regional Police Command for allegedly illegally registering people believe to be members of NPP in a room at vittin in the Tamale south constituency.

The suspect is said to have used the supposed faulty registration machine brought in from Salga North constituency of the Savannah region.

The suspect, Mohammed Yushawu Kongsoha together with one Mumuni Yussif Abilla, a data entry clerk were arrested by the Northern Regional Executives of NDC during their monitoring of the ongoing exercise.

According to the NDC, the machine was declared faulty at Tantuyani D/A primary school registration center in  Salaga North constituency and was agreed by both parties that it should brought to Tamale for maintenance only for it to be found with the EC temporary staff registering.

The End of Day Report of the EC sighted by Zaa News revealed that, the suspect has registered 12 people as at the time of the incident Friday morning.

The Metro Director the EC has confirmed that suspect was indeed their temporary staff. The NDC claimed that suspect was a known and card bearer member of the governing NPP.

Checks on the EC machine as at the time of arrest revealed that about 12 people were already registered with the supposed faulty machine.

Savannah Regional Communication Officer, Mr Malik Basintale urged all NDC agents at the various registration centers to be extra vigilant about EC officer’s claims that their machines are faulty.

He told Zaa News will not that state security and the electoral commission that it will not allow any collaborative effort geared at rigging the 2020 general elections.

The NDC Mr Basintale said will match everything suspicious activities of some EC officers boot4boot.
