Dagbon Forum commends 3 eminent chiefs mediating Dagbon Chieftaincy dispute

The Dagbon Forum (DF)  has commended the 3 eminent chiefs mediating on the prolong chieftaincy dispute for their final decision to ensure peace in Dagbon.
The DF  which comprises proud  indigenes  of Dagbon said the move by the 3 eminent chiefs should be supported by everyone in Dagbon.

Addressing media on Monday, DF call on the regional coordinating council and the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to intensify their efforts at ensuring before, during and after the performance of the funeral rites of late Na Mahamadu Abdulai IV and the late Ya Naa Yakubu Andani.
DF is also making passionate appeal to the journalist and media houses to use their medium to promote during the period.

National Vice president of DF Sentario Mahama who read the statement to the media in Tamale call on Dagbon people to exercise high sense of patients and restrain for the interest of peace and development in Dagbon.

DF said it received the Asantehene-led mediation committee successfully facilitated agreement between the Abudu and the Andani feuding parties news on the schedule performance of the funerals of the two Yaa- Naa in good faith.

The mediation committee resolved that the Abudu Royals should perform the funeral of the late Yaa- Naa, Mahamudu Abdulai IV, beginning December 14 to 28th; and to be followed by the funeral of the late Yaa- Naa Yakubu Andani II from January 4 to 18,2019.
The eminent chiefs last meeting stated that the all the funerals are be to be performed at the old Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
This, DF said was recommendable and thank the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Naa Bohigu Abdulai Mahama Sheriga and the Yogbunwura Tuntumba Boresa I.
We commend their wisdom, diplomacy and, above all, patience in getting us to this point. We also acknowledge the government’s commitment to bringing lasting peace among this big and historically influential descendants of Naa Gbewaa, DF said.
The forum call on all sons and daughters of Dagbon to seize this opportunity to usher in a new dawn of hope.
The is particularly calling on the Muslims clerics to preach peace, tolerance and understanding among neighbors in Dagbon.
It appeals to both families to remain resolute and focused on the singular objective of organizing the funerals with pride and harmony, and to make present and future generations continue to remember both occasions.
DF further appeal to all to remain vigilant against what it called hostile and aggressive tendencies seeking to undermine this momentous opportunity for peace and development.
It urges religious and opinion leaders and the northern regional coordinating council to ignore machinations by chieftaincy contractors whose evil plots marred previous attempts to resolve the issue.
The Forum call on the journalist and media houses not to allow their facilities to be used to cause disaffection.
DF gave a firmed assurance that they will support the process, and to stand up against anybody seeking to thwart this process. Dagbon, the forum said deserves peace, cultural harmony and a healthy continuity of the time-tested traditional system of administration.

A respected opinion leader,  Alhaji Abdulai popularly alley one one, Dr Al-Hussein Zakaria -Member of Regional peace council, Alhaji Ibrahim Abass- Former Ghana Ambassador to Turkey, Alhaji Abudulai Yahaya  took turns to call on the people of Dagbon to allow peace prevail.
