The Member of Parliament for Zabzugu Alhassan Umar has predicted that the future of Ghana looks bleak, citing the growing bigotry, cronyism and nepotism as the basis for his prediction.

He said failed institutions and leadership of the country threatens the peaceful coexistence of the citizenry. Mr. Umar who was at Zabzugu to mark the 63rd independence anniversary celebration told Zaa News that Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah’s independence speech that the country’s independence was meaningless unless it was linked up with the total liberation of the African continent is still relevant today.

He said Ghana should not be rejoicing over only political independence but must strive to ensure that the citizens are liberated from all forms of abuse and discrimination.

Mr. Umar was worried that the country was sharply divided on tribal partisan, political and religious lines. He indicated that the only way to stamp out this menace is to create the enabling environment for the youth and citizens to participate in decision making process.
