Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery says the government under Nana Addo is committed in ensuring the welfare of personnel of the Ghana Police service and the citizens at large.
According to the interior minister, the president has confidence in the police service and will provided the necessary support for them to discharge their duty.
More materials and equipment Mr Dery said are on its way to strengthen the police service.
The interior minister was addressing officers and men at the Holy Cross Parish at Choggu in the Sagnarigu Municipality on Saturday during the burial service of the late Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Malishegu whilst performing her lawful duty.
The late Agartha was promoted by the interior minister to a Sergeant.
Sergeant Agartha Nana Mr Dery said joins the list of officers of the Ghana police who lost their lives whilst rendering service to their country and that her memory will not forgotten.
The interior minister stated that in spite of concerns by citizens on growing insecurity in the country, Ghana still remains the peaceful place in the region and urged the public to support the security service in combating crime.
