Karaga district assembly disburses 3 000 Ghana cedis to persons living with disabilities

The Karaga district assembly has disbursed an amount of three thousand Ghana cedis to ninety-six (96) persons living with disabilities in the area. The amount is to support them financially to engage in petty trade to improve their economic condition.

Additionally, the money which came from their two percent share of the district assembly’s common fund also known as Persons with Disabilities Fund (PWDF) is designed to stop the disabled in the district from begging in the streets.

Other materials such as wheel chairs and prosthetic legs were also presented to some of the physically challenged to facilitate easy movement. Other beneficiaries included those with hearing and visual impairments.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the district chief executive for Karaga, Mr Imoro Yakubu stated that everybody in the country is part of the disabilities association and has therefore petitioned all and sundry to support them whenever necessary.

The DCE told Zaa news that his role as a father of the Karaga district compels him to work extra hard to change the lives of the disabled for the better. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money to transform their lives.

He also appealed to the disabled to be patient and not feel like society has abandoned them. Meanwhile, the chairman of the disabled association in the Karaga District, Abubakari Osman expressed his happiness to Zaa News about the disbursement of the money and appealed to the district to continue lending them its helping hand.image
