The Northern Regional Director of Legal Aid, Issah Mahmud has called on the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Finance to reconsider and improve working conditions for lawyers of legal aid.
Mr. Mahmud lamented the fact that he is the only legal aid lawyer in the whole of the northern region and attributed it to the poor conditions of service which make the legal aid scheme unattractive to lawyers.
Disclosing this to Zaa News at a workshop organized by the Edusei Foundation for students of the Tamale senior high school, Mr.Mahmoud explained that the salaries of legal aid lawyers do not correspond to the work they do.
The one day workshop under the theme “Developing the youth for a brighter future,” brought together experts from education, health, law and business.
