Eight people have sustained varied degree of injuries at Mion during the celebration of this year’s fire festival held on Saturday night.
One of victims was said to be in critical condition and has been transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital while the other 7 are currently at the Yendi Municipal hospital.
Eye witnesses told Zaa News the victims were hit by bullets from a locally manufactured gun during celebration at about 7:30pm.
Details of what led to the incident is not yet known.
The divisional police command of Yendi are yet to make statements on the matter.
District Chief Executive for Mion who is the chairman of District Security Committee (DISEC) Mohammed Hashemin confirmed incident.
The 7 at Yendi hospital Mr Hashemin said have been treated and discharge.
The celebration was largely peaceful accross the major towns and cities in the Northern amidts police patro.
