N/R: Chairman Samba fingered in deplorable roads at Kpene

The Chief of Kpene in the Sagnarigu Municipality Kpan-Naa Mahamudu has appealed to government to as a matter of urgency turn its attention to the deplorable nature of the road linking Sagnarigu and Kpene.

According to him, residents find it difficult to ply the roads during rainy season for the fear of endangering their lives.

The chief said he was informed that the construction of the road was awarded to the Regional Chairman of the NPP Chairman Mohammed Baantima Adam Samba.

He noted that Chairman Samba later said sum of the contract awarded in 2016 has devalued and can no longer execute the project.

According to him, Chairman Samba, however assured that the feeder Roads Department has made some adjustments to the contract documents haven realized there have been damages on the road over the years and has since been approved by the public procurement authority.

The Chief revealed contractors were recently seen on the roads but left without explanation. Kpan-Naa who spoke to Zaa News indicated that several complains to the Member of Parliament for the area A.B.A Fuseini and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Mariam have not yielded any results.

The Assembly man for the Sagnarigu electoral area Issah Baba also lamented about the current sanitation situation in the Kpene Community.

He said not every resident in the community is capable of constructing a toilet in their homes, leading to widespread open defecation in the community.

He therefore appealed to government to subsidize the cost of constructing a toilet to enable all residents have a toilet in their homes.
