Tabiriba Women’s Association in Kanvili has won the maiden edition of a cooking challenge organized by Tasty Tom in collaboration with Zaa radio in Tamale. The contest which is the first in Tamale had four groups battled it out at the forecourt of Zaa Radio/ TV for the desirable title as the best cooking group in Tamale.

Four women were selected from each of these groups; Wuntuma women association-Gumbihini, Tibi-Gang-so women association-Choggu, Wunzaligu women association- Gumani and Tabiriba women association- Kanvili to represent in the competition. The event saw a host of residents, family members and fans to support various groups.

There were other activities like dancing competition, trivia among others with participants winning a lot of prizes from tasty tom. The champions won with their mouth-watering jollof rice. Categories for scoring the competitors were taste, timeliness, and neatness. Thanks to tasty tom, all competitors from the four participating groups went home with tasty tom products.

They also prepared local drinks such as sobolo, ginger drink, tamarin drink among others. Tibi- Gang-so women association-Choggu, Wuntuma women association-Gumbihini and Wunzaligu women association-Gumani emerged second, third and fourth respectively. The Event was on the theme; ‘’Promoting Quality cooking among women in Tamale North the impact of tasty tomatoes’’. Godwin Kofi Anthony is an Event and Activating Executive at Nutrifood Ghana Limited for Tomato paste and he explains the rationale behind the competition. He said the competition is a way of improving the cooking skills of young women. It is also a way of reaching out to customers at the grass root level to get feed back on the products in order to improve quality of products.

A contestant from Tabiriba Women’s Association on behalf of her colleagues thanked tasty tom and Zaa radio for the move and prayed for more of such competitions. She said such challenges will give them the opportunity to better their cooking skills.
