Energy Commission supports 50 youngsters to be trained as certified electricians in Northern Region

The energy commission of Ghana in collaboration with USAID and West Africa Energy Program, WAEP has supported 50 individuals to be trained in electrical technology from some selected Districts in the northern region.

The training is to improve on a better rural electrification and wiring. It also aimed at equipping local electricians on the accepted standards of wiring by the energy commission of Ghana.

The beneficiaries are expected to use the skills acquired after the training in their respective communities especially in rural communities that are yet to be connected to the national grid. 

The 50 beneficiaries who are will soon become certified electricians from energy commission would also advise residents in their communities on the need to go by the accepted standards of electrical wiring as well as the need to work with certified electricians.

Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, Mr. John Bukari, officer in charge of energy commission in the Northern region said the main aim of the commission is to make sure all rural communities have access to certified electricians for all domestic wirings.

On her part, Principal of Dabokpaa Technical Institute, madam Mariama Mohammed, urged the participants to take the training serious as the Dabokpa is capable of giving them the needed training.

Some of the participants expressed their gratitude to energy commission of Ghana for such initiative. They also pledged their full commitment to the training indicating it will go a long way to shape their career lives.
