The Northern Regional Director of National Youth Authority (NYA) Mumuni Sulemana has revealed that the authority has launched a flagship project dubbed; ‘Youth Feed Ghana.

The project seeks to support and attract young people into agriculture sector for them to see it as a lucrative business and not a form of punishment. According to the World Bank, agriculture is the engine of growth of every functioning economy. This calls for greater work to be done in the Agriculture sector to meet that maximum goal.

Mr Sulemana suggested, however, that to make agriculture easy, the youth must make use of technology to improve the sector. He encouraged that to reduce the risk involved in farming, youths who venture into agriculture must diversify their investments.

The NYA Director made this known to Zaa news on the celebration of World Youth Day. The International Youth Day is marked on the 12th of August every year to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.
This year’s theme is dubbed “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”. Speaking on this year’s theme, Mr Sulemana said the theme was apt for young people in the world to move into the agriculture industry and revive the energy and as well tackle the issue of climate change which is troubling the sector.
He said as an Authority, they have given young people in the northern region to engage duty bearers and demand for the right things to be done.
