Mr Mumuni Sulemana, National Youth Authority (NYA) Director has observed that Youth Unemployment is a national security issue in the country, the reason why the authority is putting in place measures to make sure it becomes a thing of the past.

He said as youth development workers, their concentration is on two relevant issues; vocational and technical training, and enhancing the development of young people. This he believes could tackle the unemployment situation in the country.

In an interview with Zaa news, Mr Sulemana further announced the launch of a ‘Youth Development Skill Fund’ to provide technical and vocational skills training to young people in the country. As part of the training, young people will be offered start-up capitals and mentored well to be able to engage others.

‘’It is difficult to create jobs opportunities in the formal sector, so young people should begin to change their mind set of wanting to be in government sector’’, he said.

He has however advised the youth to venture into agriculture rather than searching for ‘white color jobs that do not even exist.
