A biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kit has been retrieved from a data clerk of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) at a center in the Tamale metropolis not designated by the commission for registration.
The 26-yeara-old Mumuni Abilla Yussif was the EC’s data clerk at Kpanshegu Registration cluster in the North East Gonja district in the Savannah Region.
Northern Regional Crime Officer Supritendent Otou Acheampong told journalists the suspect was arrested at his hide out at Vittin in the Tamale Metropolis.
A search in his room according to the police led to recovery of one Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kit.
Further investigation led to the arrest of his accomplice, Mohammad Yushaw Kongsoha 32
registration officer at Kpanshegu cluster.
Twelve persons made up of 10 males and 2 females were already registered at about 7am and 8am as at the time of the arrest of the two at Vittin.
The two, the police said are currently in their custody assisting with the investigation.
They are expected to be charged with the appropriate Offences and put before court after investigations.
