The Saint Theresa Catholic church in the Tamale Arch Diocese has donated relief items to affected victims of Yong Dakpem Yili chieftaincy violence. The items are to support the victims to return to normal life after they lost their properties to the violence which occurred last week.
Items donated include; bags of maize, bags of rice, used clothes, soap and cash amount. The items were brought together by individuals in the parish through voluntary donations and presented to the victims by Reverend Father Thaddeus Kuusah together with the parish pastoral council chairman, Mr. Sabastian Saliah Yiah on behalf of the church.
While expressing their gratitude to the church, the beneficiaries noted that the items will help relief them from their current situation. They also made an appeal to other individuals and philanthropists to also come to their aid.
Meanwhile majority of the victims have been displaced and are currently seeking shelter from family and friends outside the community.
It would be recalled that on the 18th of February, 2021 two families clash in a violence over chieftaincy resulting to the burning of houses at Yong Dakpem Yili in Tamale. Over 24 houses including motor bikes, food stuff and other properties were burned to ashes during the violence.
