Tamale West Hospital nurse Manager awards 18 deserving nursing And midwifery staff

In an effort to recognize and reward hard working staff of the Tamale West hospital, the Nurse Manager at the facility has organized the maiden award scheme to celebrate the industriousness of the staff. The award ceremony which took place on Saturday January 24, 2024 at the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Hotels in Tamale, saw eighteen (18) staff including five (5) acknowledged and rewarded for their meritorious services to the Tamale West Hospital.

The hospital is renowned for its excellent health delivery services to patients who patronize it. The award scheme was singlehandedly organized by the matron of the facility, Hajia Jamilatu Alhassan.

Speaking during the award ceremony, Nurse Manager at Tamale West Hospital Hajia Jamilatu Alhassan, said she was motivated to organize the award scheme to encourage the workers in the facility to put in their best and serve clients satisfactorily.

She entreats her colleagues to acquire new skills this year which will improve their knowledge to impact positively on the hospital. She added that “when we treat our patients with disrespect, we would miss an opportunity to connect with them and to understand them better and to learn something new.”

“Listening to patients is a skill that needs practice and it is crucial for earning their respect. Considering the overwhelming number of patients at the hospital received each day, nurses there have worked under difficult situations and have gone through some tough times. But in all, we have given all those cases our very best, she added.

 She advised them to be confident and believe in themselves in order to soar higher.  She thanked the management of the facility for providing them with logistics to do a better job.

She acknowledges the work of the retirees and said, “Today we celebrate your many years of service to mother Ghana. Nothing feels good as something you did from the depth of your hearts.”

She urged the young nurses in the facility to learn and tap into the experiences of the retirees to improve their working life.

On his part, the administrator of Tamale West Hospital, Mr. Abdul Rasheed Mohammed said the unique contribution of nurses and midwives to the hospital made it the hospital of choice in Tamale and beyond. He also thanked the nurses for their commitment and dedication to duty and promised management support for all their endeavours in making health delivery services accessible to all. He also commended the retirees for years of unconditional service to Mother Ghana and urged them to take pride in the hopes and smiles they helped put on the faces of patients and their relatives.
