Two herds men in the grips of police for allegedly defrauding

Two herdsmen have been charged by the Northern Regional Police Command for Conspiracy to commit crime, to wit defrauding by false pretense and Defrauding by false pretense. The two, are Osman Mumuni and Seidu Braimah. Suspect Osman Mumuni, the police said has been detained in custody to assist investigation while efforts are underway to apprehend Seidu Braimah who is currently at large.

The suspects according to the police were introduce to the victim in 2020 by one Mukaila Shayaw as Fulanis who had a lot of cows and could sell same to him since he showed interest in buying cows. The two Fulanis the police said later collected cash sum of GHc 36,100.00 to buy him 53 cattle and rear for him in the presence of Mukaila Shayaw.

According to the police, on 9/11/2020 the two came to the victim to make an agreement to buy his Toyota Scion with registration number GW 7-Z in exchange for 40 cattle.

Again, on 14th December, 2020 both suspects went to him on an agreement in respect of his Land Cruiser Prado with Registration number GS 5939-11 to give him 300 cattle and finally collected cash GHc 56,000.00 to buy 70 cattle and both suspects reported to him that the cattle were being taken care by them.  

When the victim later made a check on the suspects about his cattle numbering about 556 cattle and 40 calves, they told him the cattle were sent to far distance for them to graze but failed to show the where about of the animals. The story telling of the suspects got the victim suspicious and he has to involve police to assist in him in the matter.
