N/R: LET NOT YOUR PRESENT SITUATION TODAY DEFINE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCE TOMORROW, NDC MP HOPEFUL URGED ORPHANS
An NDC parliamentarian hopeful for Tamale Central Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Adam, has donated food items and unspecified amount of money to inmates of the Manhaliya Orphanage Home, at Yonƞ.
The items included five bags of rice, three bags of maize and cartons of Voltic mineral water and assorted soft drinks. He did not disclose the cost of the items.
A Qur’anic recitation competition was organized in honour of the gesture and Alhaji Adam handed prizes to all the participants.
Speaking after the presentation, Alhaji Adam called on individuals in higher positions and the well-to-do, to be more responsive to the needs of the less privileged in society. He said the inmates through no fault of theirs have become orphans and found themselves in orphanage homes and therefore need the support of society to survive the daily drudgery of life.. He pledged his unflinching commitment to respond to the needs of the orphans periodically
He said: “Brothers and sisters in Islam, it is an honour today that we’ve had the opportunity to be here. I wish I could have this opportunity every day, every month, every year and it is my prayer that this comes as the beginning of our presence here. And we pray as we start with the smaller things, we pray again that tomorrow and the next and the next that we are able to do the bigger and the biggest things. May Allah make it possible for us.”
Alhaji Adam urged the orphans not be disturbed and discouraged with their situation, but should strive hard to succeed in life.
“My brothers and sisters in Islam, I want to give you a word of encouragement. You are here today, let not your presence today define your circumstances tomorrow, let not your story today define who you would be tomorrow. Understand that your circumstances today by the Grace of God should propel you into a position tomorrow that you would represent a testimony to others to have the conviction or believe that if you found yourself in a less privilege situation, you are not pined to that situation and with God, all things are possible. God can change your circumstance as a victim to a victor tomorrow.” He urgedManagement of the Orphanage Home commended Alhaji Adam for his kind gesture. Sheikh Hassan Halik Jimmah who received the donations on behalf of the Head of the Orphanage Home, Sheikh Hussein Halik Jimmah said running the orphanage is capital intensive, disclosing that about 8,000 Ghana cedis is spent every month for the upkeep of the orphans.
He therefore called on corporate bodies, philanthropic organizations and individuals in Tamale and beyond to come to the aid of the Home.
