IMG-20151209-WA0011Some supporters of the failed parliamentary candidate in the Tamale Central constituency of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim Engineer, reacted angrily to news that he had been dismissed from his job by going on a rampage on Wednesday evening and destroying party paraphernalia in the process, reports said.

The youth started  burning banners of the victor, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini who doubles as the minister of Roads and Highways, accusing him being behind engineer Ibrahim’s alleged dismissal.

It took the intervention of the Tamale metropolitan police command to stop further destruction of the governing party structures.

But speaking to Zaa News, Alhaji Ibrahim condemned the youth behavior and disassociated himself from their action. He also dismissed allegations that he instigated the youth to take the laws into their own hands.

Ibrahim insisted that he had not been sacked, explaining that the youth might have gotten wind of a memo from the civil service requesting some information about him on his involvement in partisan politics which is against civil service regulations.

“I am still at post as I speak, I have not been sacked,” he maintained. He told Zaa News he has not received any letter from any quarters suggesting that he has been sacked. He said he will never sanction any violence and urged the youth to calm down.

In the just ended NDC primaries, Alhaji Ibrahim who is the chief engineer at Feeder Roads, an agency under the umbrella of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, managed to poll 5000 votes as against almost 10000 votes garnered by Alhaji Inusah.
