Kotokoli Supreme Head commences a week long tour of the Northern Region

The Supreme Head of the Kotokoli Community in Ghana, Wuro Dauda Cheddere Brenae has paid a courtesy called on the Deputy Northern Regional minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini at the Regional Co-ordinating Council.

The call is part of his working visit to the Northern Region. The Kotokoli head is in the northern region to interact with Chiefs in the Dagbon kingdom and government officials to find out how the Kotokolis are conducting themselves in the region.

The Head of the Kulkulisi, as they are widely known in Tamale, encouraged Kotokolis to be a source of hope, reassurance, and encouragement to each and every one wherever they live.

Speaking at the instance of the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Wuro Dauda said there is upsurge of certain behaviours in some communities, which are not good for any society, hence the need for the youth, in particular, to be educated on good behaviour.

According to him, the conduct of the youth is critical in this election year and that the kotokolis will ensure that their members stay away from any trouble.

The kotokolis are grateful to government, at least, for the provision of electricity in their communities in the Kpandai district, where they dominate, the supreme head stated through an interpreter.

He, however, reminded government to speed up the construction of the eastern corridor road, where majority of their members engage in farming and other business activities.

The deputy northern regional minister described the Kotokolis supreme head’s initiative as a mark of a progressive chief, who has his people at heart.

The kotokolis, Alhaji A.B.A said, have lived excellent lives in the northern region because there is not even a single criminal activity in the region that he can recall involving any kotokoli.

He assured the kotokolis that the government has embarked on an aggressive infrastructural development in the region and it can only be successful if there is peace.

The deputy regional minister told the kotokoli supreme head that issues of Internet fraud or Sakawa among the youth still remain a source worry to the Regional Security Committee( REGSEC) and appealed to parents to take their responsibilities seriously.

He also commended kotokolis for conducting themselves well in all elections that Ghana has had since 1992. He assured all foreign nationals who are citizens of Ghana that they will be accorded the necessary support to exercise their franchise.

The kotokoli supreme head later paid another courtesy call on the Tamale Dakpema and is expected to pay homage to the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Andani Abdulai Yakubu at the Gbewaa palace in Yendi on Thursday.
