One hundred and twenty-nine (129)evictees including children of Accra demolition have arrived in Nanton constituency of the Nothern Region on Thursday morning.
The number comprises 58 natives of Tampion and 71 from Zogu communities all in the Nanton constituency in the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality. The Member of Parliament for Nanton and Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, provided two buses to transport his constituents affected by the AMA demolition exercise to their various communities.
Speaking to Zaa News, one of the affected young men in Tampion Alhassan Seidu said President Mahama-led administration has disappointed them and that he will never vote for the NDC. ’’ I don’t want hear anything about president Mahama at all, I couldn’t pick my four hundred and fifty Ghana cedis in my room when Accra mayor brought the soldiers and police to evict us; only my motor bike i use to transact scraps business I was able to take why?’’ he asked.
Meanwhile, the Northern Caucus in Parliament led by the Majority Leader and member of parliament for Nadoli-Kaleo constituency Alban Bagbin has finally visited victims of Old Fadama demolition exercise in Accra.
The visit was to have first-hand information on the level of destruction; pain and suffering of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s exercise have brought to the northern young men and women residing in Old Fadama.
The majority leader was accompanied by the second majority chief whip who is also the Member of Parliament for Savelugu constituency, Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo and other MPs from the north appealed to the displaced dwellers to exercise restrains while they make efforts to ensure justice for them.
