AIDS commission Boss commends Northern Regional Coordinating Council in HIV prevention

The Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Dr Angela El-Adas has commended the northern regional Minister Moses Buakari Mabengba for his leadership role in ensuring that, metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies release 0.5 percent of their common fund to respond to HIV menace in the region.
Dr. Angela made the commendation when she paid a cutesy call on the minister at the regional coordinating council to express his delight about his good leadership towards reducing HIV prevalence in the region.
She also presented some documents and learning materials from the commission to the minister to enable him be abreast with the activities and operations of the commission.
She also commended the media for their enthusiasm and interest during a three day capacity building workshop for journalist in the northern region to enhance their reporting skills.
Dr. Angela said the commission in collaboration with the regional coordinating council would establish a resource center for students and media practitioners learning more on the transmission of HIV virus.
Dr Angela further touched on the strategic leadership in ensuring that the districts assemblies contribute their quota towards the reduction of HIV, especially regions where political and administrative leadership who hold the various MMDAs to the provisions guiding the application of district assembly common fund. 
Touching on the strategic leadership, Dr Angela El-Adas said the commissions audit from 2010 shows that, some districts contributed more than the 0.5 percent.
Northern Regional Minister Moses Bukari Mabengba thanked the Ghana AIDS commission for realizing the contribution of the regional coordinating council's efforts in curbing the HIV menace in the country.]]>
