Anbariya Islamic Institute appeals for support


The Head of Anbariya Islamic Institute in Tamale, Shaihk Abubakari Sa-eed Zakaria has appealed to intellectuals in the northern region to help the institute attain accreditation from the national accreditation board for its Arabic and Islamic studies diploma programme.
The accreditation, according to Shaihk Sa-eed Zakaria, will help train professional to teach the youngsters.
He said most Arabic instructors from the three northern regions received training from the Anbariya Islamic Institute, hence the need to transform its diploma programme into a college of education. Sheikh Sa-eed also appealed to individuals and benevolent organizations to assist the institute with infrastructural facilities, especially its junior high schools whose enrollment level has increased putting lot of challenges in its limited infrastructure.
Shaihk Sa-eed made the appeal at the institute’s speech and prize giving day in Tamale. The institute reiterates it’s appeal to government and other stakeholders in education for its own educational unit. He announced that the institute is poised to revamping the Anbariya University College which already has structures on the ground though inadequate.  
Sheikh Sa-eed Zakaria commended the former northern regional minister Mustapha Ali Iddris, the Tamale Central and south members of parliament, the mayor of Tamale and Alhaji Ibrahim Sheriff for their immense contribution towards providing academic facilities including ITC centre.
The Northern Regional Minister, Moses Bukari Mabengba who represented the vice president John Dramani Mahama assured the institute of government's commitment to improving its infrastructural facilities.   
The institute which started over fifty years ago under trees with a few pupils and later to rooms at its founder, the late Shaihk Yussif Ajura now, have over 3,000 students in spite of its infrastructural  challenges.  
Certificate of honour was awarded to deserving students, teachers and individuals who contributed to the success of the institute since establishment.
Among the dignitaries graced the occasion were the Tamale, Dakpamah, Naa Alhassan Mohammed Dawuni, the Gukpe-Naa, Tamale Buglana (priest) and a prominent northern intellectual Lawyer Ibrahim Mahama among others.
