The Regent of Dagbon, Kapakuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani has assured the Tamale metropolitan assembly of traditional rulers support to improving the livelihoods of the people.
The overlord of Dagbon said traditional leaders will give their full support and advice to ensure peace and development and urged the assembly to also consult the chiefs in developmental issues of the metropolis.
Kapakuya Naa gave the assurance when the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (M.C.E), Hannan Gundadow Abdul-Rahman pay a courtesy called on him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
Kapakuya Naa told Mr Gundadow that ’’you know how Tamale is and anyone who has held the position of Tamale mayor we hear everything that happened, the only thing for you to succeed is patients’’. He further assured the MCE that his prayers are with him to succeed but particular attention must be pay to concerns of the youth to avert any unforeseen situations in the metropolis.
The visit was to formally inform the overlord about his appointment as the Mayor of Tamale. Kapakuya Naa reminded the Tamale mayor about the enormous task ahead of him and urged him to be patient in dealing with issues concerning the youth in Tamale.
Speaking to the media at the Gbewaa palace, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hannan Gundadow Abdul-Rahman said the assembly need to get the blesses of the overlord of Dagbon who plays an oversize responsibility over all sectors of development in the northern region.
He said his outfit will periodical go the Gbewaa palace and seek guidelines or consult him on the number of issues that boarded on chieftaincy or governance general within the Tamale metropolitan area.
The mayor explained that his visit to the Gbewaa palace will enable the assembly established a very good relationship with the traditional leaders because as he put it ’’you cannot actually administer the district without active participation of chiefs; and he being the King who superintend over the Dgabon traditional area we need to get his backing’’.
The Tamale mayor after formally informing the overlord of Dagbon later held a closed door meeting the Regent of Dagbon Kapakuya Naa Abduali Yakubu Andani.
