Chief appeals for social amenities

The Chief of Manguli-Kukuo, Naa Abubakari Jahanfo has appealed to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Tamale south to provide them with the basic social amenities.

The chief said his area even though is just a stone-throw from the Tamale metropolis; the community has no electricity, no potable drinking water and that the community had a school through an NGO.

According to the chief, residents in the area around this time of the year travel long distances in search of potable drinking water because the dug-out has dried up.

Despite the visit of the Member of Parliament for Tamale south Haruna Iddrisu and the mayor of Tamale Hanan Abdul Rahman Gundadoo who requested that the community writes formally to the assembly which they did, the community basic needs still not addressed.

According to the chief, government promised the community with a school but failed to honor its promise and NGOs came to their aid with a school.

Speaking to Zaa News after a clean-up exercise organized Saturday  by 3310 Youth Movement, Naa Abubakari Jahanfo was however grateful to the assembly for providing them with waste management tools to ensure their surroundings are clean.

 The chief is also worried that after the NGO provided them with the school, there are no teachers to teach the future leaders. Every household was provided a dust bin for proper management of waste.

The road to the Manguli-Kukuo the chief said is only accessible during dry season and needs to be worked on to ease transportation difficulties facing commuters.

Women in Manguli-Kukuo who corroborated with their chief lauded TMA for providing them with dust bins. They are however not happy about the slow pace of assembly and the Tamale south MP in finding solutions to their problems.
