Chinese Embassy supports Nanton MP

The Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, in partnership with the Chinese Embassy have donated learning materials amounting to Forty Seven Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC47,000.00) to the pupils of Tampion Primary School.

The items include pens, pencils, textbooks, novels, school bags, footballs, shoes and some other Teaching and Learning Materials (TLAs).

The donation was presented by the Ambassador of The Peoples Republic of China to Ghana, Ms Son Boahong.

In her remarks, she disclosed that, the Member of Parliament for Nantong Constituency, Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala is a very good friend of China and has on several occasions requested for the embassy’s support for the Constituency in the form of scholarships and infrastructure.

She further promised that, what the constituency was enjoying today was just a tip of the iceberg and that, more of such support would be coming sooner, considering the challenged nature of the area.

The Regional Minister in his speech reiterated the call on Chinese government to institute scholarship schemes in the fields of medicine and engineering for students to help improve the quality of life of the people in the Northern Region at large.

He further advised the authorities of the school and Tampion township to ensure an unbiased distribution of the items.

The Deputy Trade and Industry minister reiterated his commitment to improving the living standards of people in the constituency.

He disclosed that, contracts has been awarded for the construction of three libraries in Zogu, Nantong and Tampion which will commence in about a month time including the Tamale – Nantong road.

He thanked the Chinese Ambassador and his team for such a huge support and assured them that those items will be put into good use.

The Honorable Member of Parliament and N'yab Tampion Lana and his elders donated some cultural costume, tubers of yam and a ram to the Ambassador and her team.

The Ambassador was consequently enskinned as 'The Tampion Zisung Naa', literally, 'Chief of Peaceful Coexistence'. The Team was accompanied by some members of the Ghana Chinese Traders Association, former Ghana Ambassador to China and some executives of the Ghana China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA)
