Curfew Imposed In Kpatinga Over Chieftaincy Matters

The Ministry of interior has imposed a dust to dawn curfew on Kpantinga and its environs in the Gusheigu district of the northern region.
This followed commotion in kpantinga and Yendi in response to the arrest of a chief who was installed on Monday 26 march 2012 by the Bolin Lana, leader of the Abudu  gate in the Dagbon chieftaincy. 
Abdulai Ziblim was arrested in Kpatinga by the security agencies and taken to the regional police headquarters in Tamale for questioning. His arrest triggered outrage in Yendi, leading to the burning of two stores.
The youth in Yendi also burnt tyres on the streets of the Yendi municipality, heightening tensions in an already fragile area.
A statement signed by a deputy minister for the interior on behalf of the interior minister, William Kwesi said the curfew is as a result of tensions arising out of chieftaincy affairs in the area.
The curfew is from 6pm to 8am.
Meanwhile the Bolin Lana Installed Kpatinga chief who was arrested by the police on March 27, 2012 has been granted police enquiry bail.]]>
