Dagbani Reggae artist presents international award to gov’t

One of the Northern Dagbani Reggae artistes,  Abubakari Sadiq known in showbiz as ‘Police man’ has won an International award from Marley D’honneur for his hard work in the reggae music industry.

The Francophone music award which was held in Burkina Faso saw several reggae artistes across the world to climax the three months Music festival.

Apart from Abu Sadiq’s music being played in the northern region, people of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Burkina Faso and all the border towns and communities enjoy his lyrics.

 The internationally acclaimed Dagbani reggae star was taken by surprise when he was called via phone inviting him to come for the accolade in Burkina Faso.

Presenting the award to the northern regional minister, Abu Sadiq said he first treated the French phone call as one of the fraudsters but was convinced by the organizers that it was real.

Abu Sadiq told the regional minister that he should have presented it to the president because he received it on behalf of the people of Ghana but ones minister was representing the president, it is appropriate to present it to him.

The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Limuna thanked Abu Sadiq for making the people in the northern region proud and bringing honor to the country. He advised musicians in the region to put in more efforts and seriousness to their God-given talent. 

Alhaji Limuna said both Dr Anaba’s and Abu Sadiq’s Awards are lesson to all in the region that anything you do someone is monitoring you not only in Ghana but in international spheres.

The minister also promised that if the need be, he will arrange for the two distinguished personalities to meet the president John Dramani Mahama.

 Alhaji Limuna hinted that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) may use you (Abu Sadiq) as our  peace ambassador to because REGSEC is being inundated with a lot of conflicts ranging from chieftaincy, religion, land and politics which does not auger well for the region on daily bases. ’’Our people need to be conscientized and RCC wouldn’t min partnering with you to use music to educate the people on need for sustainable peace in the region’’, the minister emphasized.
