The Tamale Dakpema, Naa Alhassan Dawuni has referred the people of Kalariga to Gumana’s palace for redress.

At a press briefing on their concerns at his palace, Naa Alhassan Dawuni stated categorically that the said letter addressed to him, the Dakpema, should be re-directed to the Gumanaa who is customarily responsible for the Kalariga traditional area and not the Dakpema.

According to the Dakpema, the content of the letter centers on the performance of the final funeral rite of the late Kalari Naa and the subsequent installation of a new chief for Kalariga.

Naa Alhassan Dawuni acknowledged the receipt of the letter on Sunday, February 3, 2014 by the people of Kalariga to perform the late Kalarina’s funeral

The Dakpema says in order not to go contrary to the customs and traditions, the matter be referred to the Gumanaa instead.

He however added that when the matter gets to the Gumanaa, he the Dakpema may be called for further consultations and appropriate solutions but as of now he has no say in what the people of Kalariga want him to do.

The Dakpema, therefore, urges the people of Kalariga to remain calm and wait for almighty God’s intervention for an amicable solution to the issue.

Last year, a chief was installed but residents in the area refused to recognize him as their chief.
