Get certificate with us or lose your business-Energy commission tells electrical wiring practitioners
The Energy commission has called on electrical contractors in the northern region to adhere strictly to the regulations guiding the electrical wiring practices. The commission is also reminding electrical contractors per the Legislating Instrument (LI) 2008, which regulate electrical wiring practices.
The energy commission said it is mandated to ensure that electrical wiring practitioners comply with the LI. The commission has also warned that electrical wiring contractors without certificate issued by the commission in the next two years will not be allow to practices.
The warning, according to the commission is to ensure that electrical wiring practitioners become conversant with the rules governing wiring profession.
A representative of the energy commission, Mr. Owusu disclosed this at stakeholder’s forum in Tamale. The Technical Regulations Officer at the energy commission, Nii Ashong recounted the numerous fire incidences that has engulfed the Ghana in recent times and that it should not be attributed to electrical wiring practitioners.
The technical regulation officer urged electrical wiring practitioners to not of key provisions of the regulations governing the electrical wiring.
He said some Ghanaians have blamed the recent fire incidents in the country on poor wiring and those practitioners should led professionalism be their guiding principles.
