Government says it will make Buipe, the district capital of the Central Gonja the industrial hub of northern Ghana.

President John Dramani Mahama who was the special guest speaker at the 39th annual congress of the Gonja Land Youth Association in Buipe, mentioned the establishment of inland port to handle the inland cargo from Burkina Faso and other West African countries, the Diamond cement factory, and the Produce Buying Company (PBC) Shea nut processing factory as some of the economic opportunities for commercial business in the area.

’’As government we recognized the economic importance and location at Buipe, a recognition that has inform some of the changes in Buipe’’ President Mahama told his kinsmen.

Under government of transformational agenda, it envisaged Buipe and is working position the town as the industrial hub which has a long time benefit for industrial business in the area of agriculture and port linkages in the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority ecological zone. ’’I remain resolute and I believe that, through SADA, we can transform the savanna areas with industries into economic zone with industries that will guarantee the youth with sustainable employment opportunities’’ President Mahama assured.

Speaking on theme; ’’Ensuring the Effective Management of NATURAL resources in Gonjaland: The Role of Gonjaland Youth Association, president urged individuals in Gonjaland to contribute their quota in the management of natural resources urged the people to be encouraged by the theme.

Government, the president said is making possible for the people to have easy access to various locations through the provision of roads and also putting together incentives to encourage investors to invest in the northern region.

Feasibility studies, the president said are being carried out in two locations in the northern region for the establishment in sugar plantation and sugar factory to produce sugar not only for Ghana but export.  

Leading the President to exchange pleasantry with the chiefs in the Gonjaland were the Roads and Highway Minister and Member Parliament for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, the Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna and a Deputy Energy Minister, John Jinapor
